When you apply for a job, and they say, ‘a first-aid certificate is essential’, the certificate they are referring to is Provide First Aid HLTAID011. What do you learn in a first aid course?
You will learn how to care for a person who needs lifesaving CPR, how to manage an unconscious person or treat someone who is choking. If you need to put an automatic defibrillator on someone, you will learn how. If you had a family member who was severely injured and bleeding, you will know what to do.
You will learn about spinal injury, burns, snake and spider bites, broken bones, sprains, anaphylaxis, acute asthma, heart attack, stroke, diabetes, and convulsions. You may need this qualification for the workplace, refresh existing skill or just know how to keep your family and friends safe.
About The Course
The first aid course has two parts, theory and practical first aid. With ‘Express’ you complete the theory online in your own time, and then you come to class for the practical session. If this is your preferred choice, please note that you must allow enough time prior to class to complete the theory in full.. The online theory combines animated short videos and asks a series of multichoice questions after each section. The student’s ability to read and write English is necessary, however; if you feel that understanding English is a problem for you, please contact Hilltops First Aid.
Learning the practical application of first aid involves observing the trainer perform the skills and applying theoretical knowledge. Students have time for practice, and when you feel comfortable to perform the skills, the trainer will observe how clever you are.
After attending 100% of this training and upon successfully demonstrating competence in all assessment activities you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment from The First Aid Group, RTO 32268.
